If you are my husband or any other man, you can feel free to avoid this post.
Since D-Day is inching closer and closer (8 weeks, 1 day!) I figured it was high time to get some things in order. Since we haven't moved yet, nesting is out of the question, so I decided to do a little something for myself: a postpartum kit. Every man in the world just cringed as I typed that and every woman, mother, soon to be mother, or hope to be a mother one day ears just perked up.
Apparently postpartum recovery goes hand in hand with having a baby (who knew?) , and is just as important as taking care of that squishy newborn; but oddly enough, postpartum recovery or the 4th trimester is never really discussed.
Everyone is focused on that sweet squishy newborn, while you aren't even considered anymore. You were just a carrier for everyone's new favorite person and have officially become chopped liver, congrats!
I made this kit never having children before, but relying on talking to friends and co-workers and of course, our trusty friends Google and Pinterest.
So here's what's in my postpartum kit:
- Motrin
- Tylenol
- Stool softener
- Always Pads (you know, the kind from Jr. High)
- Dermoplast (the blue cap)
- Witch Hazel (Tucks) Wipes
- Witch Hazel (Tucks) Pads
- Granny pannies (not pictured - you are welcome)
And all of the above is neatly tucked away in a box and easily accessible when the time comes.
If you have anything else that I should add to my kit, please let me know!
