The New Logo

After endless and tireless hours of working and designing a logo, it's finally done.
It's something I've been meaning to do for a long time, but I wanted to make it myself and it had to be just right. I think I finally found it.

See the below photo to check out the logo!

Now, do you want to know how to create your own logo?
For free, of course!

THIS WORKS WITH PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 8, BUT I'M SURE IT WOULD WORK WITH OTHER VERSIONS AS WELL.

First things first, find an image that you like.
Or, be like me and do a simple google search for photography logos.
Here are a few samples that I found:

Save the photo with the image that you like in an easily accessible area, I always choose the desktop, just out of ease. Once you have the image saved, upload it to Photoshop Elements (PSE).

Hopefully I don't have to tell you how to upload an image to PSE!
Once the image is uploaded, open the image.
Make sure you can see your layers palette.
On the layers palette, double click the background layer, this will rename is layer0; which is fine.

Once that is done, grab your quick select tool and select the area you want to delete.
Once all is selected, just hit the delete key...voila, your background is now deleted and your logo will be transparent! Now, to add a little text.

That's fairly simple, with your file still open, just select the text tool and type in the name of your business. Simple, right?

Once that is done, you officially have a logo.
Now on to saving the logo for later uses.

Choose edit.
Define brush.
Label the brush.
Ok, now it's saved, but its not saved saved.
In order to do that, you need to follow these steps.

For one new brush that you’ve created, make sure it’s selected.  It will default to the category that was active when you created it.  So, if you have a category where you know you want the brush to go, activate it before creating the brush.  Then, click on the Brush Type drop down menu and click on the double arrows to select Save Brush.  Choose a name, and you have a new brush.
If you want to create a new category for your brush or brushes, first create the brushes with your Default category active.  Click on the Double Arrows and select Preset Manager.  Within the Preset Manager, select all the brushes that you want to put in a new category and select Save Set.   You want to save your brushes in this location:
  • in Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, look on your C drive/Program Files/Adobe/Your Version of Photoshop Elements/Presets/Brushes
  • on Mac, look on your main (not user specific) Mac HD/Applications/Your Version of Elements/Presets/Brushes
For brushes that you loaded into Elements, while they’re active, click on the double arrow and select Save Brushes.  Navigate to the location above and name the collection of brushes something memorable.  Click Save and they will appear in their own category set the next time you open Elements.
