Last Saturday, January 7, I got up early with Tay (5:30) and ushered him off to work and then packed up my car and drove three hours south to the Delta to surprise my mama. I called mama when I was on my way and asked what her plans were for the day? Oh, not much, maybe ride down to the country; not much, why? Oh, no reason, I'm just on my way to see you :)
I think she was shocked. Yay! I love it when I can surprise my mama. We had some lunch and then decided to head over to Greenville to see a movie. It was 12:45, the next showing of the movie wasn't until 2:15...no offense to Greenville, but killing that much time in that town would be like pulling teeth. We opted out of the movie and just decided to drive around and slowly make our way back to Drew's.
Along our random little road trip, we spotted:
A walkway that overlooked a peaceful lake
An alligator sitting on a log
This was my first time seeing a legitimate alligator - meaning that it was not in captivity like a zoo or something. Mama and I walked out onto the overlook, staring into the distance, just looking for something. All of a sudden, I looked directly in front of me and saw this little fella. Just chilling. Ducks were constantly swimming by, he could have cared less.
Since this trip was a spur of the moment thing, I didn't have time to think about my packing. I did THINK about bringing my camera, but my battery wasn't charged, and I didn't want to wait around for it to charge. So sorry for the quality of the photos, they were taken with my phone - either way, the picture was taken, so I'm happy. Needless to say, the camera will now stay fully charged and ready for any of my spur of the moment trips. I have officially learned my lesson.
