My list of things that perturb me continues to grow. And no, it's not the little things. It's the major things. Taylor has been sick for over two weeks now. Not I'm gonna die sick (like most men), but just an uncomfortable sick - baby, can you get me some water? Can you bring me a blanket kind of sick...the kind I'm more than happy to deal with.
My Tay is a nurse, and a dang good one at that, and normally, in our household, we don't get sick. He works in the CV-ICU at St. Francis Hospital and sees all kinds of nastiness on a daily basis that can kill. When he comes in from work, I make him strip at the door, put his overly funky scrubs in a seperate laundry hamper and make him shower...Overkill? I don't think so, we are just overly cautious. Especially since half of the diseases he comes across on a daily basis don't have cures.
Anywho, back to the point.....
We normally don't get sick, but alas, my Tay Tay is. He's been taking Mucinex, Afrin, Day Quil, you name it, he's taking it. And he's still sick. Boo. So he asked me to politely pick him up some sudafed. We live in Mississippi and you CANNOT buy sudafed in MS without a prescription. So, me being the optimist, I thought I could just happily drive to Tennessee (we live 6 miles from Graceland) and easily pick some up. See a Walgreens. Go find the medicine section. Find the sudafed. Take it to the pharmacy. Wait an absolute eternity (ok only 15 minutes, BUT I was the only person in line.) The pharmacist asks what symptoms I have. I lied and told him the medicine was for me and that I was having nasal congestion and constant watery eyes, running nose, nagging cough. He politely takes my ID, and then begins to tell me, "Mrs. Skeleton (don't take this the wrong way, but black people always so skeleton instead of Skelton - no idea why) the symptoms you described, well, uh, sudafed won't do nothing for that." Um, ok thanks mean old pharmacist.
So with my ID now officially being in the system for trying to purchase sudafed, I try another location. This pharmacist was a brazillion time nicer than the previous one. Described symptoms and he said yes, sudafed would do the trick, BUT by law, he cannot sell sudafed to a Mississippi resident.
So all of this ranting leads me to this, thank you crack-heads of Mississippi who ruined the only effective medicine out there to cure a hellacious cold. I hope your crystal meth was worth it...Not to mention your loss of teeth. If you take much more away from me, there will be hell to pay. Just a little FYI for you.
Now onto the other portion of my list. Tay and I have been debating on getting a treadmill for months. Well, we finally had the funds and take the plunge. Get the treadmill home. Some assembly required, my foot. It took 3 hours to put the thing together. Hooray, it's finally together, lets put on our running shoes and test it out. Oh wait, huh, there's a small part missing. Um ok. We double and triple check the boxes, the rogue part is no where to be found. Tay calls the company, and they told us we would have the part if 4-5 business days. Cut to two weeks later, still no part. Tay calls the company back. The part we need is back-ordered - apparently, they forget to put this part on every one of their treadmills - AND the first customer service fella forgot to tell us it was backorded. Well Customer Service Dude #2 tells us, he will personally see to it that we will have our part by Wednesday...Had a treadmill for over 3 weeks and still can't use it. FRUSTRATING! To sorta light a small fire under Customer Service Dude #2, Tay asked about their return policy. That is when we were told, it could not be returned to them, had to be returned to the store where we bought it - descontructed. So, we have a couple hundred dollar paperweight that we can't use, and that we can't return. And if we do decide to return it somehow, we have to take it apart.
Word of advice, do NOT buy a Health Rider treadmill.
I'm done ranting for the night, back to watching football and bearing down for this ungodly weather we are supposed to be getting tonight.
I was there!!! - emma
