I don't have an overall vision, but I know that I want subdued tones with pops of color. I want a warm, clean looking space. As a whole, I've always hated animal prints (cheetah, leopard, etc...), but as an expectant mother, I'm loving anything that has little giraffes or elephants on them; not exactly the same animal print as mentioned above, but you get the gist.
I also think that it's smart to make the nursery a space in which the baby can grow into; just by adding new and different accessories.
I have all these crazy ideas running through my head, but Tay said when I try to explain them to him, it makes no sense. You'd think after 8+ years together (5 married) the man could decipher anything I say in my crazed ADHD nursery rant; apparently not. Thank Heavens for pictures.
Adorable, nursery friendly animal prints = LOVE
I'm not 100% sold on this, but I like the idea.

Three years ago, Tay and I bought this exact table on Craigslist for $60.
After seeing this, I'm going to sand it and add some some white and it will be our changing table. FOR FREE!

Anthropologie has the best stuff at the worse prices.
I'm in love these pom curtains.
They are whimsical and would be perfect as Tater Baby grows.
Now, which color? White or gray?

Taylor and I both love the idea of using old flash cards to display the name.
I've been searching Etsy for the perfect ones.
And now we are adding Henry into our mix of names...
I think the idea of well wishes written on a globe is a million times better than cards that are shoved into a drawer or baby book and never really looked it. And after the shower, boom, nursery decor!
I originally thought about this over the crib, but Tay said it would give
Tater Baby nightmares. And he's probably right. Dang it.

Rooms like this inspire me.
Maps make me happy.
The crib is terribly unsafe, but I want it.
The ladder for blankets is now something I've added to the want list.

This room makes me beyond happy. Or maybe it's the super small Ruby Falls banner.
Choosing a rug is like navigating Starbucks for the first time. You don't know what you want. You can barely understand the menu. The prices are sky high and you have to order sizes you've never heard before. You don't want to get the same thing that everyone in front of you got. You want something that is you. Something that is mass produced, but screams: YOU!!
I love all the above rugs. I know I want something warm. Possibly white, maybe not. I know that I don't want geometric shapes or patterns or chevron. I'm more of simple is better gal.

To date, we have made a few purchases for the nursery:
We don't know much, but we know this will hang over the crib; as the focal point.
Traveling and geography are important to us.
In our house, we have 5 (different) framed maps; not counting this one, and a shower curtain map.
We are those people.
But we know the capitals of countries you didn't even know existed. An extended shower is also a geography lesson.
The capital of Tunisia is Tunis.
Before there was a Tater Baby, this was the crib I always wanted. Then I found Ikea and had a slight but unrequited love affair. And came right back around to the original. I love that it's white and simple and clean and classic; not for long, once the baby is added!
I love giraffes. I even begged to have one when I was little; then my heart was shattered in a brazillion pieces when I found out that giraffes weren't pets. Tater Baby will have a giraffe.
Since Tater Baby "came to be" on our anniversary trip to Chattanooga, we thought it only fitting to have a piece of Chattanooga in the nursery.
And for those who've been asking; we finally set up our registry! It's still in progress, but we are registered at Babies R Us right now.

Right now, everything is still a wondrous dream. We are buying and analyzing the fun stuff; trying NOT to think about ALL the diapers we have to buy, or the car seat, the hospital bills, the insurance, all the not so fun stuff.
And no, we still haven't changed our minds about the gender. Who knows though, by the next appointment, we may have :)
