The weather the last few weeks has been crazy. Polar vortex and all that nonsense. The high temp in the Memphis area for two days last week was 8*. I couldn't even fathom how cold that was, until I had to get out in it. And them promptly turned around, ran back into the house, put on my pajamas and said, "screw you, winter!" I stayed in that day. And the next.
Kimmie and I both have been hoping that the weather would cooperate for their engagement session. All week, the forecast called for rain on Saturday :( But, we were not deterred. David called various museums throughout the area and if all else failed, we could be admitted without having to pay and could use their facilities for photos.
Through some miracle though, the temps began to rise and the ice started to melt. And then it started to rain...Monsoon like downpours. But, lo and behold, I awoke on Saturday morning, to a beautiful sunny bedroom; a little too early for my taste, but at least the sun was shining!
We decided to meet in the South Main district and just walk until we saw things/locations/graffiti that struck our fancy.
And Memphis has plenty of that. If you haven't visited the South Main area, you should. You are missing out. There are lots of cute little artsy shops, coffee on every corner, and of course, since it's Memphis, a dilapidated building or two...its up and coming.
Kimmie and David are getting married in a few months in Picayune, Mississippi, and I'm thrilled they ask me to document it!
Until then, enjoy their preview.
We also happened upon this gem. #onlyinMemphis
