So this morning I woke up at 5:30 when Tay's alarm went off. He jumped out of bed, I stayed. Then I hear the shower cut off, jump out of bed to do my usual morning routine, which consists of making his turkey sammies and packing his lunch box. Since it felt a little cool in the house, I decided to go out and crank his car to make sure it would semi-heat up enough before he had to leave.
Go outside. Open garage door (still pitch black out). Crank the car. As I'm heading inside I see/hear rain...I peek out the garage. It's not rain, its snow. And lots of it. Like a lot a lot. I ran to tell Tay he may want to get the lead out, his usual 25-30 minute commute may be a bit longer due to the snow and it's highly frowned upon when nurses show up late (especially by the one you are replacing).
So Tay gets off to work without incident, thank God.
Now on to something else.
Yesterday was Tuesday, which meant that the coupons and circulars were mailed out. I checked the mail last night and started getting my list and coupons together like I do every week.
I sat down with the coupons, sales ad, and the computer while Tay watched Inside the NFL....
Cut back to this morning and all that white stuff on the ground. Since I already had my coupons and list in order and the sale just started at Kroger this week, I knew I needed to hit the store. Not to mention the lack of food in the freezer/fridge :( But with the snow, I didn't want to (insert adult hissy fit here).
I text Tay to tell him we may as well order in tonight, it's snowing and I don't feel like driving the 2 miles to the store, yeah I know, sue me. Well, as Tay tends to, he talked me into going. Whatever. Barely wearing make-up and wearing an ugly t-shirt plus my thick as hell winter coat, I loaded up and went to the store.
Do you plan your trips like I do? Not the coupons, but plan on going during a certain time of day so that you don't have to run into people? I know that sounds terrible, but you know what I mean. It's like missing church on Sunday, going to the store on Monday, and who do you run in to? The preacher. He doesn't question you, but still, you can feel that guilt welling up :(
Any who, that's basically how I plan my trips. I know that anytime after lunch the grocery will be packed and especially after 5, so I try to before that and also before all the extreme couponers have taken every single thing off the shelf. Selfish. I wanted cheap/free pasta too, you didn't have to take it all!
I sound like a kid who forgot to take their ADD meds this morning (sorry parents who have ADD kids, I mean no disrespect). Promise there is a point, I promise!
So I'm in the car on the way to the store. Get to the store and notice there is an awful lot of people here for 9 in the morning, but whatever, I'm already here. Circle the lot 3 times to find a close spot. Did I mention that it's still snowing? No luck on finding the close spot. Oh shucks :( Felt like Rosa Parks, pushed to the back. I find a spot in the back of the lot, throw on over sized jacket and get out of the car. Look both ways to check for traffic (oh how my parents would be so proud!). When I look to my left, what do I see? A news crew. Yep, a news crew. Filming all us "crazies going to stock up on dry goods for the storm." FOR THE RECORD, I'm not a crazy stocking up on dry goods for a a storm, for your information, I never check the weather, was just making my weekly trip to the store and BAM! So if you live in the Southaven/Olive Branch area, don't watch the news this afternoon or tonight, I'm afraid I'll be on it. And if you do watch and see me and mention it to me, our friendship will cease to exist. Thanks so much!
