My beautiful, perfect, chunky nephew just turned one! I can't believe it's been a whole year since Drew called and said, "Doo-Dah, I think we're having a baby today." For those of you who don't know, I live in Memphis and sweet Sandling was born in Jackson, Ms. As soon as I hung up the phone with Drew, I called into work and headed South...breaking the speed limit like no one's business. I had to. I just had to be there when Sandling arrived.
When I got to the hospital, I met the rest of my family and went back to the room...Elizabeth was great - calm and collected- while Drew looked pale and was on the verge of passing out (or least that's how it looked to me!)
We went back to the waiting room and waited. And waited. And waited some more. If baby didn't arrive soon, I was going to have to leave and head back home :(
Finally, Drew comes through the double doors with the biggest grin you can imagine. "He's here!"
And that was the day my chunky britches arrived...
It's still hard for me to believe that Drew is a daddy and has to answer important questions...
"Daddy, why is the sky blue?" Or will have to help with homework. Oh Lord.
Sandling acts just like his daddy. The other day, I was visiting him and he decided to have a fit. A Sandling fit entails banging your head on the hard wood floor until someone comes and picks you up. Taylor thought we should have gotten him a helmet for his birthday, looking back, we probably should have! Oh well, hindsight and all :)
Enjoy the few party pics!
