50 Shades of Disappointmnet

The Skelton's have started their house hunt, yet again. We've lived in the Memphis area for over 3 years now, and are moving, AGAIN! To say we are tired would be an absolute understatement.

We started our search in West Memphis, AR, since I work at a community college and Tay's commute to downtown would only be 10 minutes.

And here's where the disappointment shows its face.

I called a rental company and inquired about their property.
According to their website, it's a 3 bed/1bath, with a huge fenced in yard...too good to be true right?

Disappointment greeted us as soon as the front door was opened (oh and don't worry about the pry marks on the door, we'll clean those right off!) The carpet hasn't been replaced in at least 20 years, stinks worse than a port-a-potty sitting in the hot sun, and the walls were bright pink and navy, and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned or updated since at least 1972.

Needless to say, we will not be calling that place home.

After that waste of time, gas, and money, we opted to look in downtown Memphis and my favorite, Harbor Town!!

After calling numerous properties (and NONE accepting dogs over 35 pounds), we found one property that did allow large breeds. And we could tour the facility today!

The tour went great, the property was beautiful and perfect.
The money? Not so much.
For a 630 square foot ONE BEDROOM apartment the rent was ... $1,300.

I'm sorry, $1,300 for an apartment?
A one bedroom?

Right now, we live in a 3 bedroom/2.5 bath house in a nice subdivision and don't pay that.

Disappointment is running rampant around us today!

So after having a beer (or two) for lunch; we decided it was time to head back to the drawing board.
We called the only nice apartments in Southaven, and they accept large breeds!!

We went ahead and filled out an application and put the money down to hold the apartment.
So, if all else fails, Tater, Norman, and I will have a place to live.

But, we are still searching for a cheapish home with a yard for fat boy.
Keep praying guys!
