For some reason, the time between Thanksgiving and Valentines Day is considered engagement season. So, in honor of the engagement season, I've decided to post a few tips for the newly engaged.
Your fella has just gotten down on one knee and said those 4 words that you've been dying to hear, "Will you marry me?" So now you are screaming and jumping and crying and staring at the new jewelry that has just taken up permanent residence on your ring finger.
This list is by no means all inclusive, but it should give you gals a general idea.
1. Call family and close friends.
I know this seems like a no shiz Sherlock, but with social media being at our fingertips constantly, its easy to get caught up in the excitement without calling Uncle Bubba to let him know the exciting news.
2. Determine the size of your guest list.
You don't need to know if you going to invite exactly 100 or 150 people, but if you want a small wedding, it may be in your best interest to NOT talk about the wedding around people that you do not plan on inviting.
3. Consider all of your date options.
Scenario: Ever since you were little, you dreamed of a Christmas wedding, but apparently, your groom didn't get the memo and proposed on Christmas Eve. So...are you going to wait an entire year to marry your fella or just plan the wedding for a different season. Either way, the end result is the same. You get your guy. It's a win ladies.
4. Don't overwhelm your groom.
Girls, we love details, don't we? And we assume that our grooms are the same way...hint: they are not. They don't know the difference between eggshell and ecru and they sure as hell do not know what peonies are. Don't overwhelm them. Involve them in the details and planning, but don't get offended when they say they don't care or they don't know, they honestly do not!
5. Get a manicure.
Again, silly and stupid, right? But most of us don't have the time and think not having a manicure won't be a big deal. Girl, you worked hard to get that ring and I assume you want to show it off, so paint the nails a bit.
Hope this helps!
