The Blog Post with lots of Lists

Well it's Wednesday afternoon. I'm home from yet another day at work. Oh how I long to be a stay at home wife...and mama (one day.) Tay says that he wants to be the stay at home parent. I nipped that in the bud. I said no no, you're the one with all the ambition and want to go back to school, ergo, you will be the breadwinner, I'll be the happy housewife. Plus, I've already received all the education I want, thank you very much :)

Since my work hours have extended, some of the household duties have fallen onto dear ole Tay. He minds, but he doesn't complain. I just hate getting home from work, going to the grocery, and then having to cook dinner. And yes, normally, I go to the store early Saturday or Sunday morning, but our weekends have been packed lately. Between weddings and engagements, and visiting family, our weekends have been super packed. Once I find the time, pray that I will! I'll upload some pics from our weekends.

While sitting at home, when you know you have numerous chores to do, do you ever just say, "nope, not today?" I'd rather be watching those crazy Housewives or something similar and equally trashy.

That happened to me today. Tay doesn't get home from work will about 8:00; which gives me oodles of free time. Free time in that I'm not my real job, but there are still other jobs to be done.

Can you guess what happened? I started these jobs, like laundry, vacuuming, and everything in between; but yet I felt something else calling my name. A movie. Which movie, now that I don't know.
There are so many that I love; excuse me a moment while I look through our arsenal and decide how I will waste this glorious afternoon.

My favorite movies in no particular order:
1.  ALL Indiana Jones - even the new-ish one.
2.  Big Fish
3.  Elizabethtown (It has my name in the title, what's not to love?)
4.  The Devil's Rejects
5.  House of 1000 Corpses
6.  O Brother Where Are Thou?
7.  Die Hard with a Vengeance
8.  Steel Magnolias
9.  Jaws
10.  Despicable Me
11.  Dances with Wolves
12.  Walk the Line
13.  The Bone Collector
14.  Moulin Rouge
15.  The Help
16.  I Spit on Your Grave (its a 1970 horror/revenge flick - and it's out there - be warned!)
17.  Halloween (The Original)
18.  Gone with the Wind
19.  Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (great book too!)
20.  Stand By Me
21.  Bull Durham (Please watch if you haven't, I find it amazing.)
22.  Raising Arizona
23.  Jurassic Park
24.  Last of the Dogmen
25.  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Speaking of movies, I love a good book as well. And it's just as entertaining as watching TV and you get to use your imagination, imagine that kids! And it makes you smart, so they say :) I honestly don't have too much time to read anymore, but I still love book shopping and having the best intentions when buying a book.

My favorite books in no particular order:
1.  Helter Skelter - Vincent Bugliosi (I begged for this book for years, mama kept saying no)
2.  To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
3.  The Notebook - Nicholas Sparks (I read all of his, but this was, by far, the BEST!)
4.  The Secret Life of Bees - Sue Monk Kidd
5.  ALL Harry Potter books - J.K. Rowling
6.  P.S. I Love You-  Cecelia Ahern (so much better than the movie, trust me)
7.  Water for Elephants- Sara Gruen (Once again, so much better than the movie)
8.  Still Life with Crows - Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child (anything by them is GREAT!)
9.  R.L. Stine and his fantastic Goosebumps series from childhood
10.  Heaven is for Real -Colton Todd Burpo
11.  Middlesex - Jeffrey Eugenides
12.  The Lincoln Lawyer - Michael Connolly (movie was amazing, book is way more amazing)

I also enjoy Edgar Allan Poe. I know. Weird, right? Well, first of all, this is a judgment free zone. I'm telling you these things in confidence. I honestly have a book of his works in my living room. I used to read the 'Tell Tale Heart' before bed. It gave me nightmares. So I stopped. But I keep the book just in case I get a wild hair and decide to delve into it again, doubtful.

T.V. Shows that I cannot live without (I'm sure I could,  but I don't wanna!)
1.  Shameless
2.  Swamp People
3.  Raising Hope
4.  Criminal Minds
5.  Dexter
6.  Big Bang Theory
7.  Real Housewives of Orange County (I'm ashamed to admit it)
8.  Justified
9. Sons of Anarchy
10.  Rescue Me (I'm upset they cancelled it after 10 years, it was, by far, the best TV series out there. God bless you Denis Leary)

I used to spend over $30 a week on magazines. You know. You're at the check out counter at Kroger. The person in front of you has so many items. You pick up Southern Living, find a recipe your husband will love, boom, your turn to check out. So, either loose the recipe forever, or spend the $3 or $4 and get it. Obviously, you buy the magazine. Not anymore. My loving mama, thank you!, got me a subscription to Southern Living for Christmas. Oh happy day! As for the rest of the magazines, I either look on line, or wait till we visit Tay's parents - his mama keeps all kinds of magazines, and that makes my day when we venture down there.

Magazines that I ogle over, but never buy - they are $4.00 and up, no thanks, I'll save that!
1.  Garden and Gun
2.  Southern Living
3.  Better Homes and Gardens
4.  Mississippi Magazine (but only the wedding register)
5.  Delta Magazine (I will never buy this mag, but I like to look - too expensive & too many ads)
6.  National Geographic
7. Biblical Archaeology
8.  Shutterbug
9.  Real Simple
10.  Martha Stewart Living

I think that's enough lists for one day.
I'm sure as soon as I post, I'll remember another movie, book, or magazine that has just slipped my mind....
Thanks for reading the lists :)

Twenty Questions

1.  Is your second toe larger than your big toe?
     - Nope, they are even. (What does that mean?)

2.  What is your favorite season?
      - Fall of course.

3.  What is your favorite color?
-Orange and burnt orange, and copper.

4.  What is your dream job?
-To live on a ranch in Wyoming and raise Skelton babies and puppies. And be a photographer
for National Geographic. And to be a travel writer/photographer. In a nutshell,  I want to be
         Indiana Jones.

5.  Diamonds or pearls?
-Oddly enough, I don't care. I'm not that type of girl. Spend the money on a trip and let's pack up   the car instead. Don't get me wrong, diamonds and pearls are nice!

6.  City or country?
     -Country, of course.

7.  Mountains or beach?
-I prefer the mountains. Like the Appalachians or Blue Ridge Mountains.

8.  Where is somewhere you haven't been, but would like to go?
-Plenty of places. Top of my list, out West. I want to see the Grand Canyon, I want to go to            Arches National Park, I want to drive through Winslow, AZ. I want to see Yellowstone and Yosemite and Badlands National Park, and Mount Rushmore and Devil's Tower. And the Great Salt Lake. Judging from what I want to see, this trip out West may take years!

9.  If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
-Can I just be Batman? Or Iron Man? That works a lot better for me.

10.  What is one thing on your nightstand?
-Chapstick. I have piles of Chapstick stored throughout the house.

11.  Do dirty dishes go in the sink or dishwasher?
-Sink. We clean while we cook, and then, once done eating, we immediately clean the kitchen.
I honestly cannot sleep knowing that the kitchen is a mess!

12.  What reading material would we find in your bathroom?
-Game Informer, AACN, and Readers Digest - someone signed me up for Readers Digest. I still
don't know who did it or why they thought I would enjoy it, but hey, thanks!

13.  Maker of everyday dinnerware?
-Delta C Pottery in Belzoni. Best plates ever. And if not those, Kroger paper plates.

14.  Maker of fine China?
       - Don't have any :( Numerous folks have to croak in order for us to get fine China!

15.  Three things we would find in your medicine cabinet?
-Ibuprofen (and lots of it!), Band-Aids, and Hydrocortisone cream. And a whole lot more, but
the question was for only three.

16.  If you had to save one thing from your home, what would it be?
       - I'm assuming that the hubs and dog are safe? If not, them first. Fa sho. After that, our wedding
album. I'm attached to things in my house, but not that much.

17.  What was the last movie you watched?
        - Cars and Cars 2. Yep. Two adults, no children. And we opted to watch Cars.

18.  Did you ever go to camp?
      - Yep. Strong River Camp and Farm. Love that place. It's where I learned how to canoe.

-Still reading it. Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child - Fever Dream. I love them. I love their
          protagonist, Pendergast.

20.  What are your summer plans?
-Tay starting school, and our lives officially ending for the next three years :(
But it's a sacrifice we've both wanted for a long time - and now it's finally here!
