And now, another new service from Skelton Photographie.
The First Year Package.
This package includes (as shown above): a maternity session, a newborn session, a 6 month session, and a 1 year session. The package also includes a photo book at the end of year with high quality photos from each session. A baby book, if you will :)
The price for the First Year Session is $750.
If you want to take away a session or add an extra, the price will be adjusted accordingly.
Here are some questions/answers/facts to help you out:
When it comes to maternity photos, I prefer for them to be taken at 36 weeks or later.
You want your belly to be big and beautiful, but you don't want it to be so large that posing and holding different positions for any length of time becomes taxing. If you wait too late into your pregnancy, you will not be able to move comfortably, and it will show in your photos.
When photographing newborns, it is best to take their photos within the first two weeks.
During this time they sleep more soundly and curl up more easily into adorable poses. For babies that are born early and spend time in the hospital I try to get them into the studio within the first seven days of them being sent home. I don’t usually photograph babies younger then five days old since they are still working out how to feed and can often be very red or jaundiced. The key to photographing older babies is to make sure that they are kept awake for up to two hours prior to starting the session. I also make sure that the parents understand that there is no guarantee that they will get typical sleepy shots.

Other helpful newborn tips:
I always ask that parents try to keep their baby awake for 1-2 hours prior to coming in for their session. A good way to have them do this is by giving their baby a bath. This is a great way for the babies to exercise their lungs a bit before coming and tire themselves out a bit. It also helps their hair to be nice and fluffy (if they have any!)
If at all possible I always schedule my newborn sessions for first thing in the morning. This is a time when most babies sleep more soundly. Afternoon can be very tricky as they approach the afternoon witching hour.
Normally, newborn sessions can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Also, newborn sessions can take place at your home; where you and your baby are most comfortable, or in my studio. That choice is yours.
Remember, bring things that make a happy baby!
