Nothing beats a Mississippi Delta wedding. They are so comfortable and everyone is always so welcoming. You know it's a good day when the families embrace you, as well as the wedding party.
Melonie and Thomas became Mr. and Mrs. at 7:00PM on a perfectly Delta day, where rain was eminent, yet never showed - thank God! The two were married on the grounds of the Oakhurst Plantation, one of the most beautiful homes (to me) in all the South.
They
have been planning this
BEAST of a wedding (and I mean that as the highest compliment) for 9
LONG months. All of their hard work (with their family’s help)
paid off.
Even though the entire week leading up to their big day called for rain (like 90% chance, people) it couldn’t
have been any prettier. We’re talking BLUE skies and sunshine, with a cool breeze. It was absolute perfection.
I've attended and worked at numerous weddings, and all are very different and special in their own unique way. This wedding focused on the bride and groom (of course), but it was also centered on fun. They wanted their guests to have the time of their lives, and I think that happened. The band is one of funnest and funniest you will ever meet. If you are looking for some bad a$$ entertainment, contact Smiley and the Young Guns, you can thank me later. And be sure to set your drink down and get to dancing...you CAN NOT sit still with them playing.
The best way to describe this wedding would be Mississippi Delta Chic.

Thanks for allowing me to document this journey!
Enjoy! And if you are wondering about all the gorgeous flowers, you need to contact Danny. No last name needed. Everyone knows him and he can make anything gorgeous. I tried to get his email so that I could send him some photos for advertising purposes, his response, "I don't have one. And I don't want one. I don't advertise." Perfect.
I told Melonie upfront that I wanted to try something that I've never tried before. The off camera flash backlit shot. It took a lot of doing, and mosquitoes were everywhere, but I think it's great for the first attempt!
Of all the photos from Melonie and Thomas' big day, I think this is my favorite.
Just a glimpse into all the crazy dancing. Thanks Smiley and the Young Guns! Y'all are always a good time!
Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Sandidge. Y'all have fun in Mexico!
