The Trip is Planned!

The 4th anniversary trip is officially planned. And it only took me two days to plan it. I'm getting better and better!

Tay and I were hoping to make it a three day trip, but we have accreditation at work that same week, which means that I cannot possibly take off work, dare even ask!

The details: Saturday, October 19th - Sunday, October 20th.

Here's the plan:

I'll get up Friday and go to work like usual, but more than likely will not get much work done; dreaming, planning, mentally packing and longing for a road trip. It will be the longest work day of my life.

Get home from work, exhausted from the work day, but begin packing the truck with everything we need - food, camping gear, and everything in between.

Get up early Saturday morning and be on the road by 3:00am.
Our first destination is Alum Cove Natural Bridge Recreation Area; which is about 4.5 hours away. Our My plan is to be there early enough so that we can do as much as possible in one day. Once we see that, we'll head to Glory Hole Falls, Lost Valley State Park, and then Whitaker Point.

That sums up day one! Our plan after Whitaker Point is to drive into Eureka Springs, AR, and camp. Then rise early the next morning, hit Thorncrown Chapel and Christ of the Ozarks and then drive on back home!

Did I mention that Norman is tagging along?
The way I figure it, since we are saving money by not staying in a hotel, why pay money to board our dog. It's an outdoor - naturey trip and dogs are made for the outdoors! Unless of course, a puppy grandparent wants to come up and take care of big boy? Hint hint folks, hint hint!

So now, the plan is to go buy a bigger tent that all three of us can fit in. I doubt that the two person tent we own could fit us!

This was the last time we camped. Three years ago on our first anniversary trip. The tent is small, the ground was wet, and I was panicked about bears.

Now, here are some photos I found online of the places we are going to visit on our two day trip:

And of course, while writing this blog and researching a bit more, I found a few more locations that I may like to hit...hopefully if time allows!

And I know what you're thinking...a two day trip? That's it! Actually go somewhere and celebrate!
When you are like us and are short on time and money, this is a little slice of heaven...the Skelton's will take the ultimate road trip once Tay gets done with school. And then travel, travel, and travel some more; as long as time allows!
