Top 10 Places to Take Photos in Memphis - Photo Worthy Memphis

I've lived in the Memphis area for over 3 years now. Since I've called this place home for some time now, I figured it was time to compile a list of Skelton Photographie photo worthy Memphis.
And remember, your thoughts and ideas and opinions will surely be different from mine.
This is just meant as a helpful list; not an entire list - there are too many to name!

1.  Martyrs Park
803 Channel 3 Drive, Memphis, TN.

Martyrs Park is an amazing location for photos. You've got the beautiful Mississippi River as a background as well as an old bridge. In my book, it's a win/win. Most parks located near the river are always packed, while this one is a hidden gem. I would suggest going in the early morning or late evening.

2.  Rhodes College
2000 N. Parkway, Memphis, TN

Rhodes has a perfect campus. Especially for fall portraits. Not to mention the architecture.
All in all, Rhodes College should definitely be on a list somewhere.
Wait, it is! :)

3.  Beale Street
I'm not the norm here. I actually prefer Beale Street during the day; when it's not packed, and doesn't smell of putrid alcohol vomit and inconsiderate drunks bumping into you.
But the atmosphere and neon lights really make it stand out at night.

4.  The Auction Street Bridge
This bridge leads to the bustling much-desired Harbortown area.
And it's also a great photo spot to get the Pyramid in the background, before it becomes a BassPro shop.

5.  This is We mural
Broad Street, Memphis, TN
The great thing about Broad Street? It only lasts for a couple hundred yards; so just put Broad Street into your GPS, tap the first available number, and you'll come across this! As a precursor, there is a fence surrounding this mural; and I may/may not have seen a "No Trespassing" sign. But there is a side street that is accessible and ample parking. Again, my suggestion to hit this place would be early morning.

6. I Love Memphis
Butler and Vance, Memphis, TN
My husband thought I was leading us into the abyss of the Memphis ghetto. And for a second, I was sure that our GPS had failed us. We were headed down a narrow one-lane road with no lines. There were abandoned apartment homes everywhere with boarded up windows. But then, wait, they aren't abandoned, people were actually sitting outside them. To go to this mural, you must be brave. Seeing homelessness and people living in certain conditions is not something you can really prepare yourself for. I felt like such a fool. Little white girl with a nice car (its not that great: a 2002 4-Runner, but it was better than what they had) just stopping by for a photo. But, I have to say, to the folks that were hanging out by Butler and Vance this past weekend, they were polite. Especially for early morning!

 7.  South Main Arts District
This whole area is amazing. Abandoned buildings, funky murals.
Brick walls galore. It's a photographers dream.

8.  Central Station
545 S. Main Street, Memphis, TN
I long to take photos in here.
And I'll get the opportunity very soon!

 9.  Ernestine and Hazel's
531 South Main Street, Memphis, TN
For those of y'all not familiar, Ernestine and Hazel's allow me to enlighten you.

Upstairs was once a noisy brothel; a couple of barflies have apparently turned out to be ghosts. And there you have it, just another all-American dry-goods-store-turned-watering-hole, where God knows how many broken hearts have been avenged and vendettas executed. That has amazing burgers.

10.  Peabody Rooftop
149 Union Avenue, Memphis, TN

Affording to spend a night at the Peabody is not something that most Memphians can do. But, the Peabody is pretty much open all the time - seriously, I've tried! And their rooftop accessible to anyone. It would be a great place for some late afternoon engagement photos.

Also, if you are interested in rooftop's; check out the Madison Hotel.
It's actually much higher than the Peabody.
